Uthango Social Investments is a unique investment and pro-poor development company, that evolved from an award-winning micro-enterprise development project.

To date, our initiatives were applauded by Rotary International via a Centennial Award, as well as by MIT (GSW Spain), the John F Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, the Bottom-of-the-Pyramid Learning Lab at University of Stellenbosch Business School South Africa, and the Impumelelo Innovation Awards Trust.

We specialize in social innovation to implement best practices in sustainable development. We work in remote communities and in under-resourced urban areas to alleviate poverty in lasting ways and improve the quality of life for the most vulnerable in society.

Uthango has tried and tested solutions for bridging the digital divide, micro-enterprise development, intercultural dialogue, crime prevention, community mental health and most importantly, infrastructure development. These are presented in the format of manageable projects, based on community demand.

Uthango is based in Cape Town, South Africa. We are registered to act as a public benefit organisation (not-for-profit) with independent auditors and international lawyers Bowman and Gilfillan Attorneys.
